Annotated Bibliography 4

Pendleton, Ethan . "How to Write Object Labels for Museums." Ehow. Ehow, 22 Jul 2010. Web. 10 Mar 2011. <http://www.ehow.com/how_6753462_write-object-labels-museums.html>.

Although eHow is not considered the most ‘credible’ source, illustrates in this article a rudimentary example of how to create labels for museum exhibits.  In my own research, I believe it is important to understand how workers would go about assigning labels to exhibits so I can write and understand more about my topic.  This source gives five guidelines one should follow in creating an easy to read, simple label which does not distract the viewer from the exhibit.  Stating the label should highlight the key points of the exhibit while staying under a 200 word limit, according to Kim Kenney a writer for Museum Professionals, will spark the interest of the viewer and not take away from the exhibit.  This source contributes to my understanding of labeling and gave me the idea of interviewing a staff member of the DC to ask about their process of labeling, further contributing to my research as a whole.
